Lead BSL interpreter Teacher part 1 and 2
Byron was born and raised in Canada and started interpreting in 1978. He qualified as an ASL interpreter through the RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) in 1980 and then became a trained ASL interpreter assessor.
He moved to the UK in 1983 and after retraining in BSL started working as an interpreter and qualified through CACDP in 1989.
Byron has over 35 years experience working as an interpreter in every domain where interpreters are required including education, theatre, national and international conferences, TV and media as well as legal, medical and community interpreting.
He has designed and delivered several interpreter training courses including courses for the Level 6 NVQ qualification, police and court interpreting courses – both introductory and more in-depth courses, skills development courses and a range of specialist training sessions. He has also presented lectures for university training programmes and at national interpreter conferences.
Byron will be delivering our Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting and Translation courses.
